“I wish I had called sooner. “
“It all makes sense now.
I didn’t even know how important having things make sense right now was.”
This is what a client said to me at the beginning of his Consult yesterday.
I asked him why, then, it had taken him so long to schedule, and he didn’t have an answer. So I asked what had happened in the first part of the consult that had caused him to say that.
His response was enlightening.
“You unpacked everything. Put everything in order. I could see what I literally couldn’t see, or didn’t realize how important it was to see it. Not only do things make sense now, I feel freed up, and can see where to put my feet down.”
I’ve been present to the fact that people seem to be in some sort of trance or stalemate, unable to see just how much they need someone to help them ‘unpack’ everything. But I have found also that, for those who have come to me for consults, though there has been a great deal to work through, it’s all so visible and ready, a powerful freedom is easily at hand.
This is a complex moment in time.
So much is coming at us; things are changing every day, swinging back and forth like the pendulum of a grandfather clock that can’t get its steady ‘tick tock’ rhythm. We are not only affected by our own lives right now, but by the rapidly changing world around us.
It is like there are trains moving all around us. We just stand and stare, and then turn back to our coffee, unable to even see that there is a train to jump onto. Even if we did notice, we can be so discombobulated by the speed of the shifts that we don’t know which train to jump onto. Even those who can see that there is a moving train we need to get onto, we just can’t get to that part of us that can make the jump. We’ve just been too overwhelmed, the changes to fast and too shocking, and we retreat.
Right now, this is my job: to unpack the complexity of what is happening, simply by showing you where you are in your life. To ‘put everything in order’ as my client said, and get things unstuck, so that you can get moving with the things that light your way, unfettered by outside forces.
Once we’ve done that, everything unfolds with great simplicity.
