Will sail My Vessel ’til The River Runs Dry
Yes, I will sail my vessel
‘Til the river runs dry
I heard on the radio today a song by Garth Brooks, The River.
October 1st, 2017
After the song, Garth spoke about the homes he passed on the way to the airport. He said, as close as I can quote him, “I saw everyday people doing everyday things, not interested at all in doing anything to have a call made to the boys in blue. Luckily for me, this is most of us.”
After listening to all the fear-mongering going on in the news, this struck me and I breathed deeply and relaxed.
I also happened to be on Sirius BBC World radio which I truly enjoy. I love the way they give us a way to know the heads of states as regular people in extraordinary jobs. For instance, did you know that Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merke, was the daughter of a priest and grew up in a parish that took care of an insane asylum? No wonder she can handle the current world affairs. A clearly American reporter was speaking to someone who seemed to be in some kind of government position asked if Chancellor Merke needed to be concerned about the growing far right. He responded, “While in your country you promote sensationalism, here we report accurate perspectives. We have learned a hard lesson in our past listening to sensationalism and the promotion of a small numbers of dissidents who gained prominence over our country leaving the larger majority aghast. The accurate perception that I want to portray is that the far right is ONLY 14% of our country. Do you think you can do that?”
I am one of the people who came here to take care of the consciousness of this species as it evolves. This sometimes makes me look like I am airy-fairy or fringe or only spiritual.
But, I want you to know why I do this is because I love everyday people getting to have everyday lives doing everyday things that make everyday life so sweet and delightful.
Human beings all have a deep desire to be happy, to have meaningful lives, and to die feeling that the life they are leaving was a good one.
Let’s not forget that.
There are those of us who work to make sure that everyday people get to have everyday lives. We are not everyone. We are actually a minority. I am one of those and I love the people who work with me to make sure that the consciousness of Creation stays active in their consciousness. This is not for only them. This is their sacred act. An act that builds the strength of consciousness so that people who will never know there are those taking care of the collective consciousness get to have the privilege of a great life…a life worth having.
Every human being who lives a life worth living builds the consciousness of our species to evolve into something more. Some of us do it consciously and some of us never know our lives, that we strive to make the best they can be, make such a difference. But together, we make a difference in times that seem to challenge our remembrance that the few are not the many and that sensationalism is not the majority of what is going on.
We are in one of those times where our love of our everyday life balances the challenges before us. This balance leaves us able to handle the challenging times and be part of what builds the beauty of life after the challenges have passed.
Thank you.
Garth Brooks Lyrics
“The River”
You know a dream is like a river
Ever changin’ as it flows
And a dreamer’s just a vessel
That must follow where it goes
Trying to learn from what’s behind you
And never knowing what’s in store
Makes each day a constant battle
Just to stay between the shores…and
I will sail my vessel
‘Til the river runs dry
Like a bird upon the wind
These waters are my sky
I’ll never reach my destination
If I never try
So I will sail my vessel
‘Til the river runs dry
Too many times we stand aside
And let the waters slip away
‘Til what we put off ’til tomorrow
Has now become today
So don’t you sit upon the shoreline
And say you’re satisfied
Choose to chance the rapids
And dare to dance the tide…yes
I will sail my vessel
‘Til the river runs dry
Like a bird upon the wind
These waters are my sky
I’ll never reach my destination
If I never try
So I will sail my vessel
‘Til the river runs dry
There’s bound to be rough waters
And I know I’ll take some falls
But with the good Lord as my captain
I can make it through them all…yes
I will sail my vessel
‘Til the river runs dry
Like a bird upon the wind
These waters are my sky
I’ll never reach my destination
If I never try
So I will sail my vessel
‘Til the river runs dry
Yes, I will sail my vessel
‘Til the river runs dry
‘Til the river runs dry
